My heart is steadfast, O God!
I will sing and make melody with all my being!
Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn!
I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your steadfast love is great above the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!
Lord of heaven and earth,
It is our duty and joy to exalt your name. We desire your glory to fill our homes, our churches, our city, and the world. As the waters cover the sea, may the whole earth be filled with the knowledge of your glory (Hab. 2:14)!
We confess that we have often sought after our own glory in vain and have exchanged your glory for another (Rom. 1:23). We are often self-seeking and think of ourselves more highly than we ought, bringing disunity and disrupting of our fellowship with you and one another. We fall prey to the schemes of the Enemy who desires to keep the praise of your name and the progress of the Gospel from advancing.
Open our eyes to see your glory and long for your worship to extend to the ends of the earth.
Awaken us from our apathy that we may hear the cry of those who live in darkness, in nations where your glory is not known.
Keep us steadfast on mission, faithful to the calling we have received, and protect us from the attacks of the Enemy.
Strengthen our hands and feet to take the Gospel into new territories and people groups who have not yet heard. May we press on into the kingdom of darkness with this our battle cry: Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth!
Amen.
