A Prayer for Georgia

July 19, 2024 Brian W

"And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." [Colossians 1:9-14]

Lord Jesus, all things have been created through you and for you. We were created to worship you, and through worship, you propel us into action for the sake of your glory in all creation. Thank you for those whom you have called and set apart by your Holy Spirit and sent by your church to proclaim the gospel across cultural barriers. We praise you for the joy and blessing of sending and serving them as partners in gospel ministry. As partners, may we toil and strive in unceasing prayer for our sent ones with all the energy that you powerfully work within us by your Spirit.

We ask you to fill them with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Give them a diligent and discerning mind to study, know, and apply your Word in culturally diverse situations and everyday interactions with others. May they walk in a manner worthy of you, with all integrity, purity, and charity so that unbelievers would see their good works and glorify you.

Guide them as they are pulled in various directions in ministry and help them be wise stewards of the time and resources you have given them. May they be faithful in the good work that you have prepared in advance for them to do, and may it bear lasting spiritual fruit for your Kingdom.

Strengthen them with all power through your Holy Spirit that they may serve you with all endurance and patience with joy and thanksgiving, and in so doing, expose and disarm the attacks of the Enemy.

Use them to “make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim.”

Amen.
